In Chiprovtsi, a town with unique atmosphere ladled out form the culture of European Renaisance, more than three centuries ago three famous schools have been created - goldsmith's, carpet-weaving and literary.
The caramics artifacts, instruments of production and especially the remains of a number of fortifications along the strategic heights of the Chiprovtsi mountainous region was one of the most significant gold producing tegions in the Balkans, towards which the Roman conquerors have shown major interest. In late antiquity the ore output in the Choporvtsi region has had great impact on the development of military production in the village of Archar (Ratsaria).
After 6th century the Slavs came here. they probably worrowed the production experience of the local population in ore output and processing.
During the Second Bulgarian State Chiprovtsi was a lively mining settlement benefiting from a number fo privileges. Unsurprisingly, here, in the prosperous feudal estates of the Bulgarian boyars Soymirovi, a great part of hte Bulgarian feudal aristocracy gathered after the Ottoman invasion. During the following three centuries crafts adn trade prospered.churches were built, as well as monasteries and schools. The Chiprovtsi merchants traversed the Balkan Peninsular and the town became famous far beyond the boundaries of the Turkish Empire. During the 16th and 17th century Chiprovtsi bubbled with plitical, economical and cultural life. The Chiprovtsi goldsmiths worked in such a wealthy and highly educated enviroment, as a grat dela of them had motable education and the oppurtunity to travel all over the Turkish Empire, to Duborovnik and as far as Central Europe.
